This page is basically a load of waffle about myself, and what I like doing, don't
like doing, etc... (a very unprofessional CV almost). If you want my CV, mail me and
I'll send you a postscript copy.
Things I do
(all integrated into my inherently complex time-management system and in no particular order)
- Spend too much time in front of the computer
- Comms-officer type for mountaineering (looking after webpage/mailing-list)
- Go bell-ringing here and there
- Play piano/keyboard
- Play with hardware (electronics)
- Hack randomly
- Usual everyday stuff (washing-up, beer consumption, etc.)
- Lecture, research and related academic things
Used to do these things too:
- Help drive the UKC mountaineering club
- Random IT supply-teacher for Canterbury College (HE/FE)
- Kent county-council approved mini-bus driver (now expired)
- Work part-time at CERN in Switzerland
- Help administrate servers/clients for the Maths + Stats department
Migration plan
- Started off in Lancashire (north).
- Moved to Oxfordshire for about 6 years.
- Moved to Canterbury to go to university (last 5 years).
- Plan to move into a small block of cheese called Mr. Iccle-Cheeses.
Degree stuff
Ph.D. thesis title is ``Dynamics and Pragmatics for High Performance Concurrency''. You can download this from the publications page.
Incase you want to employ me at some point ;-) here's the stuff I did in my final year: "theory of prgramming",
"search, optimisation and constraints" (prolog basically), "types and computation" (lambda calci and type theory), "embedded systems",
"computer graphics and visulisation", "distributed systems", and wgbuilder for our final-year project.
Future intentions
- Do much fun and good research!
- Get a Shelby Cobra and a Suzuki GSX-400 RM
- Go to a beach and build a whopping sand-castle
- I'll figure the rest out later...

That's a fairly realistic image (from a webcam experiment) |

another mugshot. Context here and here. |

me climbing in the Lake District (Bowderstone Crag, Woden's Crack Variant)
(and botching it due to lack of suitable hexes/cams ;-)). |
Um, well, that pretty unrealistic now; I did the hair cut thing ;-).
